When: The night after returning to Japan after this log. (4 years post-XI)
Content: Gumi has a nightmare and a hangover.

Also, this log involves stabbing and blood. Just saying.

[ the flight back was okay. kinda awkward, still. they made it back home safely, though. it was night time by the time they returned to the apartment, and Aiko was so tired that she was put to bed almost immediately. Gumi had said she was a little tired and gone to her room soon after.

That was a lie. She was wide awake. Wide awake, and alone with her thoughts. After a few hours of laying in bed with no results whatsoever, Gumi got up. Maybe a snack or something would help.

She made her way to the kitchen as quietly as she could, so she didn't wake the other residents of the house, and looked around the kitchen for whatever she could find that seemed like it'd help. Among the hidden things, there was a bottle of sake.

Gumi stared long and hard at it. She'd gotten it a while back. It was being saved, just in case she needed it.

She only wondered for a few moments whether or not now was a good time before taking the bottle and a shot glass to her room. It didn't matter that the sake was warm. It was better than nothing.

She sat down in bed again once she got back to her room and downed a shot of the sake. And another.

Before she knew it, she was asleep.

Unfortunately, it may have been better for her if she'd stayed awake.

It was night time. The moon was full, and it was very bright ... Gumi didn't even need the city lights to see where she was going. She was walking the streets of Tokyo, not quite sure where she was going, only that she was going somewhere ... ]

[ the combination of pain in more than one area of her body, the blood she was already losing, and the intensity of the moment in general was making Gumi's head spin, and her thoughts muddled together and incoherent. she opened her mouth to say something, but found that she couldn't. ]

And the scab finally came off in year four. But the wound hadn't completely healed by then. Bad mistake, I know. If I gave myself just a little more time to think, I probably wouldn't have ended up like this.

It wasn't your fault, though.

[the knife is driven into Gumi's back as Lily pulls her into a hug, wrapping her arms around her so that she doesn't collapse.]

Mostly.

[ she cries out once more as she felt the knife enter her again, not even bothering to hold on to Lily as it happened. She couldn't make sense of what was happening ... she couldn't even think straight. ]

You'll be fine. Because you have Reki and Aiko, right? So you don't have a reason to be upset.

[Lily slowly pulls the knife out but doesn't release Gumi.]

I'd tell you that I still love you, but then I'd just sound crazy. It wouldn't make much of a difference, anyways.

[ she finally manages to form her brain around some coherent thought, and she gasps before speaking, her voice taking on a weary tone to it. ]

Y-You wouldn't sound crazy ... I still love you, even if it's not the kind of love you want it to be ...

[ looks up at her, into her eyes. ]

Lily, this ... t-this isn't ... like you.

[ she feels like she's going to pass out ... ]

...

Huh. You still don't get it.

[she begins to raise the knife once more]

What ... w-what am I not getting ...?

[ eyes widen. ]

[no reply. the knife comes down, aimed for Gumi's eyes.]

[ and at this point, Gumi woke up with a gasp, sweating and trying to get a grasp back on reality. it was as she was inspecting herself for the wounds she'd received in that nightmare that she felt sick to her stomach.

as quick as she could manage, she stood and rushed to the bathroom, collapsing in front of the toilet and vomiting into it. after the initial vomiting, she sat back against the wall, placing a hand to her forehead, over her eyes. no matter what, she couldn't get the image of Lily stabbing her out of her mind ...

she placed her head in her hands and began to sob. it was a nightmare. right? Lily wouldn't become anything like that, would she ...?

meanwhile, the thumping of tiny feet could be heard moving toward the bathroom, and a tiny face poked in through the door. Aiko had woken up. Gumi must have been making quite the commotion to wake her up ... ]

Mommy? Mommy, are you okay ...?

[ Gumi didn't want her daughter to see her like this ... but she couldn't seem to stop crying. ]

A-Aiko, just go back to bed, honey ...

[ Aiko didn't listen. she moved into the bathroom and sat down beside her mother wrapping her arms around her waist. ]

It's okay, Mommy ...

[It doesn't take much for Reki to be up and wondering what all the commotion is. He catches of glimpse of Aiko and follows.]

[Reki is about to chastise Gumi for getting hungover and scaring Aiko when he notices the crying. The crying is new, and the chastising falls to the wayside. He comes and kneels by Gumi.]

Aiko, go get Mommy a glass of water.

[Whatever happened, she doesn't need to see this.]

... Gumi?

[ she didn't even look at him. she just slumped a little more and continued to hide her face, biting her lip to try and stop crying. she shut her eyes tightly and tried to speak without her voice shaking. ]

I-I'll be okay here, just ... just go back to bed or something ...

[Aiko looks up at Reki and nods, letting go of Gumi's waist and heading toward the kitchen for some water. Reki then turns his attention to Gumi.]

That's not happening.

[He comes closer]

What's going on?

Just a nightmare ...

[ one that freaked her out really badly. ]

[Later, Reki may look back on this and wonder why he keeps getting wrapped up in nightmare therapy. He's not thinking that now.]

Just a nightmare doesn't have you sick in the bathroom and crying. It has to be bad to wake Aiko up.

[ she finally pries her hands away from her face, trying to wipe her tears, only to have more appear. she keeps trying to wipe them away. ]

... It involved Lily.

And?

[... She's going to make him have to treat her like Jack, isn't she? He grabs a fistful of tissues and hands them to her]

I can't help if I don't know what's going on.

She was ... [ takes the tissues and starts furiously trying to wipe her tears away again. she really didn't want to trouble Reki with any of this, but she already had, it seemed ... ]

She was acting weird, so I tried to find out what was wrong. And when I tried to talk to her, she asked me if I really wanted to know, and when I said I did, she ...

... Stabbed me.

[ she couldn't help the sobs coming from her again. she buried her face in her hands again. ]

F-Four times ... it would have been five if I hadn't woken up ...

[He moves over to sit next to her and rub her back at little.]

Shhhh... It's just a dream. None of it's real.

I-I know, I just- ...

[ leans over and throws up into the toilet again. man, she really can't hold her alcohol at all. she leans back after she's finished and has wiped her mouth, trying to control her tears again ]

I can't ... get the images out of my mind ...

[Reki fights off the urge to facepalm at her throwing up again. How much did she drink and when did she do so? She knows this happens when she drinks too much.]

Lily wouldn't stab you, especially not four times. You know that.

[ she could make a comment about Bleedy being a Lily, but she's really not in the mood to throw back a comment like that right now. ]

I know ... it just really hurt to see someone so important to me acting like that.

[ her hand moves to cover the area below her ribs where Lily had stabbed her. ]

... It felt so real.

[ her tears are slowing down, but still not completely gone. ]

[Well, he's assuming that this was their Lily to make Gumi so upset. He knows about the stabby Lily from Lily.]

[Reki sighs and rubs her back a little more]

Dreams usually seem like that when you're in them, but you're not anymore. It's okay. You weren't stabbed.

... [ wipes her tears away again ]

I think I'm more worried for Lily than I am for myself in that nightmare ...

[reaches over to get more tissues]

That Lily is also just part of a dream. You can talk to her yourself to see that's the case.

[ nods and continues to try and calm down ]
